Vacation, all i ever wanted
Vacation, had to get away....
Sorry. Anyway, as of yesterday, I'm finally getting a paid vacation from work, and it feels so good. Sorta. I've actually been stressing out about waking up early and getting stuff done and all that, which is silly, but always happens when I'm preparing to go to Ohio for a few days. It is nice, though, knowing that I don't have to go to work for five more days.
Admittedly, it sucks that on the day I get back, we have a full lab meeting, one where they say, "We really want to know what concerns you have about the company," but after hearing said criticism, say behind our backs that "we're just bitching." And nothing gets done. Gotta love it.
In other news, Niles summed up my own opinions about the Detroit Red Wings getting swept in the first round by Mickey Mouse's hockey team (look at yesterday's entry...I'm too lazy to link it). But he forgot to mention that we all hope that all those Detroit fans will go back to their Kid Rock and Eminem records in an attempt to get over the heartbreak. Which proves even further why I should hate them.
I have other hockey stuff to talk about, but I have a feeling that there isn't a whole lot of hockey love in my readership, so I won't bore them. I will say, however, that the Blues are looking really good in their games. Hopefully they won't fall apart just yet.
One last thing. It's odd enough when you read about your cousin in the newspaper (or the newspaper's online equivalent, but whatever). It's even more odd when you learn something that you didn't know beforehand (namely, that he wants to be a firefighter when he gets back). It's like the Indianapolis Star scooped my own family news/gossip network. (and in case you're wondering, last we heard, he was just south of Baghdad, and hadn't showered in three weeks. He's doing fine).
